Historic Beauty in Boulder Undergoes Stunning Remodel
Maurer Painting’s feature home for July 2023 is a custom home expansion/remodel on a beautiful 1910 home located in one of Boulder’s historic neighborhoods. Our painting crews worked with the professional contractors at Cottonwood Custom Builders, along with the owner who was equally involved with the renovation. This collaboration proved to be quite successful.
This home remodel project included a host of challenges. The overall goal was to keep the front of the home the same as to not affect the appearance of its historic charm. However, the homeowner wanted the addition on the back of the home to be more transitional and updated.
First, the vaulted tongue and groove fir ceiling was extended from the master bedroom out to the covered walk-out balcony. The goal here was to provide a seamless color match. The exterior tongue and groove fir was stained to match the interior, resulting in a beautifully finished project.
“Even though the interior and exterior finishes would be different, as part of the design we really wanted a seamless color match. We put it to Tami to figure it out. I’m not sure how, but she did that beautifully.”
Another challenge of this remodel was paint colors. The owner had chosen some paint colors that normally have to be shipped in from Canada. Fortunately, in collaboration with our local paint store, Guiry’s, we were able to match the homeowner’s selected colors in Benjamin Moore Paint, our preferred brand. This really helped our painters produce the desired aesthetics that the homeowner had in mind.
